Colorado County group meets at the American Legion Hall Corinth to hold a Better Baking Contest. Mrs. Cleve Obenhaus presides as council chair with Mrs. J. Shaw as program chair. Shaw's Bend Club wins first for educational exhibit with Ganwood second and Mentz third. A glass etching demo by Miss Marie Truble and songs by Mrs. F. R. Carroll plus a recreation period round out the afternoon. Attendees from Eagle Lake include numerous local members.

Vasek couple welcome daughter Barbara LeNell
Mr and Mrs Charles E Vasek are receiving congratulations on the arrival of a baby daughter at Columbus hospital Wednesday morning. The girl weighed seven pounds one ounce and is named Barbara LeNell. She is the granddaughter of Mrs Kate Smith of Eagle Lake and Frank Vasek of Rosenberg, and her mother is the former Lindel Smith.

Baby Thrown From Car In Highway 200 Crash
An 11 day old baby was ejected onto the opposite side of Highway 200 between Eagle Lake and Altair during a noon Saturday crash. The father Kenneth Williams was unhurt, the mother sustained head injuries and was hospitalized. Opposing driver Marvin Beatram was uninjured. Two cars were badly damaged in the collision. A separate Saturday crash on Highway 90A near Allegiate involved a car with three boys rolling over. all avoided injuries. Henry Franklin of Austin drove the second wreck and other occupants were not named.

Mr and Mrs B H Daily prominent Eagle Lake citizens sold their dry goods business to RF Spanidel and Son. They plan to move to Houston next Tuesday to reside near their son Leon Daily and family. The Daily home on State Street will be vacated and the family will live near P C Middlebrook.

Football Boys To Have Barbecue Supper Tonight
Coach Edwin Reach and the Eagle Lake Eagles will be entertained with a chicken barbecue after the game tonight in the school cafeteria. Supt W C Reed and Bandmaster Martin Hale will attend. Donations came from numerous local businesses and residents. Three supervisors are needed to prepare the meat and solicit donations. Mr and Mrs Wm Waddell visited Marfa last week.
