Texan diary records 1867 geologic field trip notes
A lengthy, diary style excerpt recounts a 1867 Texas field excursion led by Dr. Buckley and colleagues. The narrative covers journeys from Austin to the Colorado River and Lampasas areas, detailing marble falls, ore deposits, springs, fossils, and regional geology. It notes significant iron ore bodies, marble resources, and multiple mineral sites across Gonzales, Caldwell, and nearby counties.
