Two Men Dead in Dorman Switch Train Wreck
A northbound Santa Fe train derailed near Dorman switch on Friday afternoon after an open switch was ignored. Two crew members, Dewey Burney of Galveston and A Schurvda of Sealy, were killed. One brakeman, Hath Brakemen Brireney, survived with a wife and three children. another suffered minor injuries. The wreck left the locomotive badly damaged and five cars overturned, with cargo including cotton, rice, pecans, and oil. Wrecking crews from Temple cleared the main line by Monday night. Authorities from Galveston investigated the incident.
