Captain Rit Clipsen led Eagle Lake past Smithville 25 to 40 in District 22 action on the Smithville field. Eagle Lake tallied 25 first downs and 378 yards while the Tigers were limited to a single aerial threat, with three picks and one fumble on defense.
Willard Glass about 55 living two miles south of Nada was found dead at 4 pm Thursday inside his running truck. Officials say heart failure caused his death while he had driven to Nada. He is survived by his wife and son Lee Glass. Funeral planned for Schulenburg Saturday.
The Headlight reports Cranfield & Ger 1oll Operators of Dallas will drill a test oil well on the Tate ranch between Altair and Columbus under a 26,000 acre lease. Geophysical work has continued for months with twenty to thirty workers based in Columbus. Asserted that extensive preliminary work suggests a new oil field may be opened, with operations expected late November or early December.
The Santa Fe railroad will operate a special excursion train to the A and M and Texas football game on Thanksgiving Day in Austin. The train leaves Eagle Lake at 7 45 a m and returns from Austin at 6 40 p m. Round trip fare from Eagle Lake is 273. The excursion train will have a Prett Harvey lunch car.

The nine month old son of Mr and Mrs Carson White living on the Davis farm southeast of Matthews died yesterday after a two week illness. He is said to have suffered the same disease that killed four children in Nada recently. Funeral planned for today with burial to Lakeside or Garwood. A Bernardo coco on child also died from the same cause last Wednesday.
The ladies of the Methodist church will hold a food and lunch sale in the former Calvert Drug Co building starting at 9 30 tomorrow morning. Cakes pies and dressed chickens will be on sale and chili sandwiches cake pie and hot coffee will be served throughout the day and evening. The Indies solicit patronage.
William Neumeyer of Sheridan is in Hallettsville hospital in grave condition after a .22 caliber rifle discharged as he leaped from his porch. The bullet entered the jaw and lodged in the drain, leaving him critically wounded.
On November 22 the Bernard Home Demonstration Club will meet to elect officers for 1933. All members are urged to be present.

H. D. Maxwell of Richland Corporation Los Angeles spent Monday visiting the family of R. T Westmnte land. Maxwell headed a Richland committee that flew from Los Angeles to Houston to attend the Petroleum Institute session in Houston this week.
The Eagle Lake State Bank has been closed since last Saturday with a notice placing its affairs and assets in the Banking Commissioner of Texas hands. Directors and examiner in charge expect possible re opening but need one thousand dollars more capital. A meeting of depositors is set for 2 pm Monday at the city hall to discuss the bank's status. The town awaits a resolution to avoid liquidation.
Mr W. M. Thon opens privater land west of Eagle Lake offering over 3200 acres for hunting ducks. Privileges allow one day hunting on designated sections with limited permits. Hunters may obtain passes for personal use, with penalties for violations.

A attempted robbery at a Sieinweif store ended quickly when a glass broke and the thief fled. Bystanders reported the assailant appeared frightened by an alarm and escaped before authorities arrived. Police are reviewing nearby footage and seeking suspects in connection with the incident.
