Secretary Wallace Denounces AAA Cotton Policy Push
A Wallace interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday urges the South to push for easier import access and dollar exchange to pay for foreign goods, warning Southern readers about the risks to cotton markets. He cautions that export declines stem from dollar shortages and urges continued AAA policy to stabilize prices, while critics argue foreign market losses loom without broader economic reform.

Economic policy and cotton export mix in South reply
A speaker criticizes AAA and federal monetary policy for hurting cotton exports, arguing the dollar decline raises foreign goods prices and reduces U S purchases abroad. He urges stabilizing currencies, cutting trade barriers, and settling war debts to restore demand for American cotton and other goods.
Public opinion and leadership debated in fragmented text
The fragment questions whether public opinion can shift without leadership and if responsibility rests more with the country or the Administration. It notes Secretary Wallace’s disappointment with Southern leaders and probes whether Northern or Western leadership fared better, while touching on propaganda and AAA in the South and naming individuals involved in weekend visits and family matters.
