Texas Constitution Amendment on Confederate Pensions Funds
Texas voters face a special election on August 26 1947 to decide Sections 17 and 18 adding a state ad valorem tax to fund Confederate pensions and to finance construction and initial equipment of buildings at state higher learning institutions. The measure sets tax rates 2 and 5 cents with a 30 cent cap and authorizes bonds for universities and A&M Texas.
