TSTA Head Calls for More Education Funding in Texas
Ruth Hillyer, president of the State Teachers Association, argues for higher state tax funding as Texas school enrollments rise by about 50 000 annually. She notes districts can raise only 259 383 89 dollars beyond local bonds and that per tax dollar school costs have fallen since 1939 10. Education advocates push for restorable classroom and teacher remuneration.
