A Century Back in May Town Notes and Visitors
A 19th century ledger of May events lists visits from H.E. Abell and family, Brown and other locals, and various trips to Brenham May Fest. Notables include Virst National Bank staff, Cane Birely past players, and plans for the new farm cooperative alongside flood prevention talk. Protracted Baptist meetings, loyalties to local depots, and small-town commerce fill the week.

Cotton Theft Folly Sparks Texas Crime Talk
A damaged OCR item mentions various thefts in Texas including cotton and cattle, noting penalties for theft valued under sixty dollars and debates on felony status. It cites names and punitive terms but text is garbled with unclear references and spelling errors.
Texas Law Faces Felony Cattle and Whisky Theft Proposals
The text cites laws labeling cattle theft, horse theft, poultry theft, auto theft, whisky manufacture, and cotton theft as felonies. It argues for humane treatment of convicts and notes Chief Justice William Hesward's remark on leniency and the inadequacy of penalties for juvenile offenders amid calls for cleaner air quarts and crowded facilities.
