Last Rites Held Tuesday For Joe Hearn
Last rites were held Tuesday afternoon in Cuero and Waelder for Joseph Dean Hearn who died Saturday after a long illness. Rev Hy A Ler officiated at Ti Bauer Funeral Home with Rev Joe Townsend assisting. Survivors include his widow and eight children plus many grandchildren. he served in the U S Army 1917 18 and was married in San Antonio. He lived in Waelder before moving to Cuero in 1945. Funeral services were conducted at Lu Verde Cemetery with family in attendance.

Dismantling of Eagle Lake Catholic Church Ends Era
After 41 years the Eagle Lake brick church built in 1913 is being dismantled to recycle materials for four new parish houses near the new Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. The old building served a small Catholic community with help from Missionary Father Montreuil, and the history notes earlier Masses and gradual renovations before its closure.
