Unidentified man killed by Southern Pacific Limited train

An unidentified man about 60 was struck and killed by the Eastbound Southern Pacific Limited near the city limits Wednesday around 7 30 am. He was seated on a tie when the locomotive hit him and drag his body to the embankment. The engineer claimed a possible object on the track mistaken for a dog. The man’s shoes were off, one leg and arm broken, and a large brace was knocked to his head. Local reports say a passerby found a body in the city and he had recently arrived from Sigur Land. The mayor and authorities were notified for identification.

Humble Company Moves Derrick North for New Drilling

The Mumbie Company well south of Attulr on the Dillwan estate diverts operations at 1100 feet and relocates the derrick half a mile north. Drilling will resume at the new site once the derrick is finished and equipment is in place.

Mr. M. Larsen of Chiesterville brought Eagle Lake the first locally grown watermelon of the season. It weighed 32 pounds and had splendid flavor. The crop looks fine with later melons expected to grow larger, offering unusually large fruit this year.

Three Men Held in Jail for Highway Robbery

On a rural highway west of Welmar three youths robbed Lute Taylor and Laura Merrow of a trunk. Deputy Sheriff Taylor arrested three suspects in Schulenburg and lodged them in custody. Charges of felonious theft filed. suspects linked to Columbus and this city.

Wolf quest ends as Ford car runs down large Golw Wolf

A Ford and car crew from Garwood and Galveston chased a very large wolf across pasture land from Rock Inland to Garwood on a Friday. The vehicle gained speed, and Bill Proka struck the wolf with the front wheel, forcing occupants to dash out and finish it with sticks.

Mrs Max Schindler Passes After 72 Years Of County Life

Mrs Max Schindler longtime county resident died after a week of illness near Bas gle Like ten miles north of Bas gle Like. Born Jule Wilders in Pressburg she married Max Schindler and reared nine children. Funeral was held at Mente at wiftock with many friends and relatives in attendance.

Razor Wound Leads to 75 Stitch Emergency in New Town

Vetuvia Simmons, wife of Scott Supinene, is reported in serious condition after a razor attack by Victoria Choice, wife of Henry Choice. Wounds extended from the neck across the chest, four inches deep, with heavy bleeding before aid arrived. Dr. R. L. McLellan treated and sutured 75 to 100 stitches.

A ten mile stretch of gravel highway west of Hugle Lake between the city limits and Wilson Hill has caused a string of wrecks during the dry season. Multiple accidents occurred Saturday and Sunday as drivers encountered loose gravel after long sections of smoother surface. Several vehicles were damaged and occupants injured. witnesses assisted at the scenes and responders transported injured to local homes for care.

Stolen Car Recovered in Houston Chase

Miss Nelle Buffington’s Chevrolet, stolen from the post office corner four weeks ago, was recovered and returned to its owner. D. Puls, a twenty-year-old Mexican, confessed to the theft and was jailed in Columbus after deputy N. W. Callison transported him from Houston. The car’s return was aided by a traveling van report and local officers who traced the vehicle to its origin and the suspect’s route from San Antonio to Hagie Lake.

Provident City Voting Precinct Abolished in Colorado County

The Provident City voting precinct in extreme Colorado county was abolished by the commissioners court. Voters in that precinct will cast ballots in Isighd and Giirwood in future elections. The Meadlight notes the county now has 19 voting precincts instead of 20 and Bagley Lake precinct is reduced from 24 to 4 fretead.
