Train Wheel Force and Rail Tilt in Hemisphere Context
A discussion on the force driving a moving train to the right being negligible under normal conditions with a standard gauge of 1436 meters and train speed of 25 meters per second. It notes that slight raising of the right-hand rail could neutralize rotation, mentions fastening issues in soft ground, and states a hemispheric tendency for rail tilt direction, toward the right in the Northern Hemisphere and toward the left in the Southern Hemisphere.
