Changes Made In Tex Safety Responsibility
The Texas Department of Public Safety reiterates that the Safety Responsibility Act applies under certain circumstances despite a federal ruling on fault hearings. DPS says suspensions may proceed after civil judgments not satisfied, and after final convictions with automatic suspensions such as DWI or DUI offenses. Reciprocity with other states may trigger action for noncompliance. Failure to report an accident remains grounds for suspension and vehicle registration actions follow suspension periods.
