Eagle Lake reports one minor incident on July 4 during the holiday period. Patrolman Billy Miller notes driver Doc Austin's pickup accelerator stuck on Highway 90A and a collision with a culvert five miles west of Eagle Lake. No injuries or heavy damage reported.

County Commissioners OK Budget Transfer Across Funds
Colorado County Commissioners in regular session amended the budget transferring funds to meet unexpected expenses. They moved $28,000 to each precinct from the Old and Bridge Fund No 1 and added $1,000 to Permanent Improvement to cover exterior painting and other improvements. An additional $12,000 per precinct was approved along with $8,500 for a project. the hearing on subdivision covenants proceeded as part of the adjournment.

Tragic death during Fourth of July holiday near East Lake
Mrs. J L Walker of Matthews community died in a house fire that destroyed her home about six miles south of East Lake around midnight on the Fourth of July. Eas tle Lake volunteers fought the blaze but the structure burned completely. funeral services were held at Coliy Memorial Methodist Church with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
