County's first bale of cotton in at Garwood
Garwood residents report the county's first bale of cotton harvested yesterday morning. Grown by Bd. 1, Nelsons Taltoy of Glened, it weighed 24 pounds per bale. The bale topped the previous week’s production, aided by dry weather followed by soaking rain to spur growth. The crop in Garwood is shorter than usual but better near Dalton, where frost and dry conditions reduced yields. Overall, a premium list for the grower accompanies the first bale.
