Appellate Court Upholds School Annexation Decision in Texas
The Fourteenth Supreme Judicial District in Houston upheld the trial court in Columbus in the Rock Island School District annexation suit. The appellate opinion, signed by Chief Justice Bert H Turks, found Article 2920 as amended constitutional and that substantial evidence supported the County Board’s order. The ruling addressed claims of improper notice and alleged conspiracy, concluding the annexation would benefit the affected areas and that the board acted in good faith within lawful procedures.
