Houlihan proposes continuing from Page One to allow regular deputies and police employees as named, seeking eight hour work shifts. He argues that salaries for officers are funded by the unit, noting cost savings and favorable terms if approved, declaring Culdrade County a fiscally sound condition to grant.
The proposal details new pay and staffing for the tax assessor collector and sheriff departments, including chief deputies, deputy jailer roles, and living arrangements. It also calls for two sheriff autos, a judge’s stenographer, and temporary district clerk deputies, with a petition urging salary-based pay rather than fees. The text blends these reforms with a wedding notice and social items about attendees and reception details.
The wedding of Miss Caroling Ray Smothers daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel Smothers to George William Basquez son of the late Captain and Mrs Joseph Basques was solemnized New Year’s Day at the bride’s parents home. Rev John G Larsen read the vows in a sun room setting with white gladioli and asters, a fern mantle, white satin altar, and electric organ music.
Miss Ruth Mason of New York City and Billy Kilgore wed at twelve o clock noon on Thursday at the groom’s parents home. Rev A W Didner officiated before an improvised altar of gladioli and ferns as guests partook in punch and cake at a lace covered table following the ceremony.
The notice notes a bride from Houston and her groom married recently with roommates and friends in attendance. The couple will reside in George West where the groom is connected with an oil company.
