Lions Club announces a mop and broom sale to be held here Tuesday. Volunteers coordinate pickup and proceeds support local community projects. Amounts and exact times are expected to be posted at the sale location.

Mrs Shaver worked at Gulf Coast Colbeld Contracting Co while Shaver was checking on oilfield equipment nearby. cause undetermined though suspected origin from a floor area of the home.

Eagle Lake High School librarian Charles W Causey reports the library received nine valuable additions this week from the family of the late Bill McKinzie, a senior who died recently. Mr and Mrs B C Taylor donated forty books and a full set of World Books from BIS collection. Mrs Casey thanks the donors on behalf of the school.
State Representative Char tes dungmichel informs officials that the Consolidated Independent School District seeks to set five seats on the school board. The measure passed the House and awaits Senate action this week. District trustees and election timing are noted for Saturday April 5 in Gle Lake Garwood and Shey- Iden.
A 1969 pickup owned by Morehatt Huff was stolen Monday afternoon near Eagle Lake. Police tracked the vehicle west on Route 10, apprehending the suspects after a brief pursuit. Jose Antonio Flores Festi, 48, of San Antonio, and an unnamed accomplice face charges including theft and illegal possession of marijuana. Bail set at 500 for theft and 400 on marijuana charges. both are jailed awaiting further proceedings.

Police in Wharton County recovered six firearms and a shotgun from suspects tied to burglaries and vehicle thefts after an arrest of a juvenile and two men. The haul included a .410 shotgun and a 16 gauge shotgun among others, linked to thefts from pickups around Keele and nearby residences last December. Charges include burglary and related counts against a 14 year old, a 16 year old, and two men, with an additional juvenile charged in the case.
