Two people died when a three car crash occurred on Christmas Eve. Police said the collision involved a sedan, an SUV, and a pickup near the highway interchange. Names and exact ages were not released pending family notification.
Eagle Lake business firms will be closed for the New Year holiday Thursday. The 1959 closing date and rural areas are noted. The post office will also be closed and there will be no effect on January 1. Lake schools will remain open and National Bank at New York Avenue? Is referenced.

Central Power and Light Co. provided 50 dollars in prize money. First in duck division won 12 30, places won 7 50, and 3 00 printed in the Les Buel tome on Melody Lane.
Schindler Butane owners Edrourd and Eber Schindler announce the firm will rename to Schindler LPG Inc after adding a brother Lester Schindler as partner. The business expands with a modern delivery fleet and improved service while keeping staff in appliance sales and service. The Schindlers, natives of the community, will continue operations near Highway 90a east of the city.
Montezuma residents will host their annual New Year’s Eve party featuring the Swing orchestra. Admission is per couple with separate breakfast tickets at $1.50 per person. Breakfast, catered by Mr. and Mrs. George Andel, follows the dance. tickets must be bought by 10:30 PM.

Harsevelt Montgomery Sr. charged with assault with intent to murder after allegedly stabbing Cladys Crystal in the stomach at her home Friday at 7 30 pm. Crystal treated at Hayle Lake Community Hose then transferred to Taub Hospital for surgery. Montgomery slated for preliminary hearing Monday with bond set pending February grand jury.
