Clerkly staff such as Postmaster Warhman Embhart Taylor handled the flow smoothly, with 91 bags of mail moving through on one peak day. Local Man Kills Large Bobcat Sunday in Ramsey Bottoms
A local man named Kretschmar killed a remarkably large bobcat at the Sverett place near his mother’s home in Ramsey Bottoms on Sunday at noon. A negro hunter claimed the cat was up a tree and had fired four times with a Winchester without hitting it. From about 150 yards, Kretschmar used a government rifle to shoot off the top of the cat’s head. Onlookers agreed it was among the largest seen in the region. Kretschmar notes many other cats nearby but believes this one was as large as any. An attempted burglary at the Daily Store occurred Saturday night when a would-be thief tried to jimmy the front door using a sharp instrument, but failed to gain entry as the lock resisted.

Old Santa Claus Visits Church Tree Goody Night
Old Santa Claus appeared at the Christian Church Christmas tree event on Tuesday night. The church was prettily decorated and the Sunday School children presented a short program. A nicely dressed tree held presents as Santa distributed them, asking each child if they had been good. Mrs. H. Thomas received a present and Santa asked her the same question, to which she replied she would be even a better girl next year.
