Tax Free Gifts Being Accepted at Eagle Lake Hospital
The Eagle Lake Community Hospital received 90 000 in gifts from Drs TR Laughlin J C Laughlin and B B Thomas former owners of Metacuities. Donations were announced by board president Mrs. Rodgers after a meeting with doctors and board members. The doctors reduced their notes from 810 000 to 51 000 each with no strings attached. The gifts erase prior conditions and lower hospital facility costs below market value, correcting the notion the doctors profited from the sale. The board aims to solicit public donations to reduce indebtedness and qualify for grants from Ford and Moody Foundations to fund improvements and expansion. Members urged timely donations for 1963 tax year, and thanked donors and hospital staff for service.
