James Woods and his wife Abbie, Eagle Lake residents, received more than 800 dollars in early Social Security benefits after Woods proved wages from a California restaurant in May 1949. A paycheck stub, found amid home papers, validated the missing quarters of coverage and enabled benefits starting November 1953.
