Mrs B F Johnson Dies After Illness in East Durham
Mrs B F Johnson of East Durham died at Watts hospital after several days illness. The body was returned to East Durham for burial at Mt Lebanon church after services. She was about 32, widow of B F Johnson, and leaves a husband two children a brother and two sisters.

A Fete in Flowerland at the Academy of Music

Man killed self in home fire after dispute and drunkenness
Morganton Sept 30 details reveal Will Mull, long troubled by drink, set his home ablaze during a drunken fit after driving his family out. His companion Ed Mull tried to intervene but Will burst into flames and perished, leaving only charred remains. A church pastor in the area has been extended a call from Scotland Neck with uncertain acceptance.

Local Meeting Series Grows At Trinity Methodist
The Trinity Methodist church continues a series of meetings with the pastor and Rev Mr Mc Whorter working to reach the unsaved. Democratic speakers Hon T W Bickett and Hon Walter Murphy plan visits to Durham next week to address large crowds. Congressman Claude Kitchin returned briefly from the western part of the state due to illness and will recuperate at home. Richard Tucker, a small negro boy, faced Mayor Graham on a store robbery charge at Bud Grimes’ shop. he was bound over in $25 bond but could not pay and jailed. Solicitor Hammer was expected but ill. Senator W H Carroll spoke to voters at West Durham. Jule B Warren left for Gastonia to begin school work after graduating Trinity College 1908. Sheppard Coleman, charged with stealing John Daniel’s coat, was bound over to court in $100 bond and jailed awaiting grand jury action.
