Two Major Fires Sweep Winston in One Night
Winston Nov 14 fires struck Liberty Street between 3rd and 4th and a second blaze on 4th Street near Church and Chestnut. Brown & Brown drugstore, banks, law offices, firms and the Twin City Club, Y M C A hall and telephone exchange burned. Loss estimate 500000 to 750000 with many buildings and stables destroyed. The second fire suspected incendiary though locals disagree. Greensboro volunteers aided Winston’s fire fight.
