Readers report Mr. Lawrence hauls logs through snow hoping to trade surplus logs. Social items mention visits and a wedding party. A long obituary honors Rev. S. Y. Brown a devoted gospel preacher and former county official, laid to rest with Masonic rites at Mt. Zion Church.
Reverend J S Dunn, chaplain of the R F Webb camp of Confederate veterans and former Methodist minister, died Saturday at his Pearl Mill Hill home after weeks of illness. He served in the army, left a widow, two sons, a daughter, a brother aged 80, and a sister in Bladen county. Funeral held Sunday at 2 80 o clock.
The notice states that Marchi's last issue in March will be followed by discontinuation for all who have not paid within nine months. It warns compliance with a government department ruling after this issue.
Earl J. Tatum, son of J. W. Tatum, died March 29 in the Philippines from smallpox. The telegram said his body was cremated. He was an electrical engineer, recently promoted, and was to be married next week to Miss Ellison, a governor general’s niece.
Little Ethelyn Proctor daughter of Mr and Mrs Norman Proctor died after a week long illness Friday afternoon at 6 o clock Funeral was held Saturday at 3 from the Prostar burial ground in her memory the family announced.
Ten day revival at West Durham Baptist led by Rev J J Beach from Kings Mountain concluded with thirty six penitents baptized in the church pool. Fourteen girls and twenty two boys, all baptized by pastor Rev C W Triplett, filled the final services citing strong attendance nightly.
