Regular correspondent rounds up barley and wheat yields with names like Sallie Wilkerson and J E Yancey. He reports church events, weddings, farm work, mill operations, redistributions of parish delegates, and upcoming revival services at Sandy Level.
Thomas C. Williams died at Capt. R. H. Powell's home after a lingering illness. He was 74, born in Virginia. The remains were carried to Warrenton for interment, with many relatives and friends attending the funeral.
Alvis W Carden died after several weeks illness at his home 313 Willard street last Saturday morning. He leaves a wife seven children, and his siblings and friends mourn his loss. Funeral service at his home Sunday at 4 pm conducted by Rev Lankford, with interment in Maple wood cemetery.
Last Friday Policeman Beavers was sent to Greensboro to retrieve prisoner Mally Brooks held for violating marriage obligations. Brooks jumped through a car window near Mebane, breaking glass, and escaped as Beavers chased and the train continued to Durham. Carrie Nation visited Durham from Saturday to Tuesday provoking mixed reactions. Ed Moore of this city was shot early Sunday near Dora Crabtree’s home. Lawrence McDade is under arrest and a trial in Orange County will follow when Moore returns.
J R Patton the city tax collector is severely ill with typhoid fever though his doctor expects a mild attack. Dr I N Carr left on an extended western trip with Mrs Carr to visit the Jamestown exposition on their return. Beulah Wilkerson wed Harry M Poytress at West Durham Baptist Church with plans to reside in Durham. Buck Addison faces two whiskey selling charges and bonds out at $50 each but cannot meet them. L B and W S Markham administrators of Sheriff Markham's estate bond $6,000. Horner and relatives from Oxford are due in Durham after his Oxford University graduation. Isaac Morris a Hebrew merchant is bound over to the superior court on a false pretenses charge after a dispute over money’s collection.

It touts Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery as restoring stomach activity, boosting gland secretions, and cleansing poisons to relieve the liver, claiming known ingredients and endorsements. It warns against unknown substitutes.
