Enormously Valuable Tree Brought to Market from Haywood County
The seven foot eight inch butt and 30 foot first limb tree from Germany Cove on J. R. Leatherwood land measured immense size and yielded an estimated 26 800 feet of first class lumber valued at 1500 dollars. Harden and Rogers lumbermen bought the tree and will ship much to the East while a portion goes to the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St Louis for the forestry display. The tree’s notoriety and wood quality drew wide attention at the railroad yard.
