Raid Destroys Moonshine Stills Near Franklinton And Vancecanta
Revenue officers raided near Franklinton and Vancecanta destroying three copper moonshine stills of 50, 60 and 100 gallon capacity and about four thousand gallons of beer plus two gallons of low wine. Two stills were found in operation as the operators fled. The raid yielded 6,000 gallons of beer and 20 gallons of low wine. arrests and judgments followed. A separate case involved John Jenkins versus Singer Manufacturing Co. with a $80 judgment after legal delays. The raiders included H Shelburn George Perry and M S Hackney. Hackney recounted a wallet and ticket loss in Raleigh while traveling home.
