In Indianapolis a sympathetic undertaker, Mr Z, consoles a grieving young woman who cannot speak. She leaves a note addressed to Mrs Z requesting boiled ham for a church social next Tuesday. The scene reveals the mix of sorrow and odd humor in a tense moment.
Dr Grissom resigns as superintendent of the North Carolina Insane Asylum citing inability of the assistant physician to perform duties. He offers to stay until a successor is appointed to ensure continued medical care and to briefing the new appointee on management and cases.
Eyewitness recalls a towering areia storm about forty miles beyond the Pyramids. Six to seven sand columns rise, merge, and erupt into a huge cloud, reaching thousands of feet and devastating via wind blown sand and grass. Described is the camel savviness and the arc northward movement of zobahahs.
Yesterday at 1 o clock Mayor Williams received information that John Wileone forged the name of L Kore rbce Commissioner at Little Rock Arkansas to obtain five dollars from the Society at New Barn to go to Little Rock. The mayor telegraphed to Goldboro and had him arrested. he will be brought to this city today. Also later that afternoon L. H. Smith colored was arrested in this city. Both will have a hearing before the Mayor this morning.
A excursion party of African Americans from Henderson Durham and nearby areas visited Richmond. A ball at a hall near the Second police station led to a disorderly scene. police arrested 54, with most jailed overnight and fined at court the next day. North Carolina attendees urged leniency. Richmond and Danville contracts noted for railcar production follow.
