Pioneer Waugh Dies in Colorado Springs at 97
Robert Ernest Waugh a Uintah Basin pioneer long resident of Myton died January 27 in a Colorado Springs hospital. Born July 27 1868 in Mount Pleasant Iowa he witnessed Basin events from 1890 to 1941 including the Meeker Massacre the Lost Roades Mine and the Fenno murder. He moved to Myton 1905 opened the Waugh Store later buying out partners. Survived by Hazel Waugh wife two daughters Beth and Louise four grandchildren and siblings and attended Presbyterian services in Myton. Funeral Saturday January 29 at Swan Drawing Room. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. Other brief notices list visitors and local church activities.
