A new Farm Mechanics Department is added to the U B I C program to be held at Fort Duchesne this August. Prof Alfred H Powell of Utah State Agricultural College will lead talks on farm machinery care maintenance and operation including plows mowers and general auto care.
Miss Corinne Moffitt of Boneta teaches in Almo Nevada returns home after visiting Mrs. J W Rockhill. Mrs Francis Brooks aids Aabor Christensen and daughters to Salt Lake to settle. Earnest Webber wedding dance drew a large local crowd. Several residents travel to Grand Junction and Provo for visits and business. Francis Brooks drills a well on his homestead awaiting water.
A fragmented social note lists Juanita Jomea Grant visiting Mrs Herthena Tholfetty and family, with multiple relatives including Mr and Mrs Perry Grant and the Gee family. It mentions a relapse of Sis Tad Young and a Cotton auction rider Elmer Curran beginning this week, plus a dance at Tavola Friday night with many attendees from local families.
A fragmentary local item reports births and illnesses. Wayne Wiltz and Mrs Percy Potts welcome a newborn boy tied to Alfred Mitchell and Wallace Carrel, with others seen heading toward Yellowstone. Alvin Pitt, child of Mr. and Mrs. Pitt, remains ill.
A Duchesne column recalls Andy Clemons arriving with a sprained knee, the Fitz-Odekirk fishing party returning from Yellowstone with 300 trout, bear-eyed lightning bugs, and misadventures fishing on Rock Creek. The city will lay a water pipe to the cemetery on August 12 using donated labor from Duchesne residents. Existing usable pipe and salvaged material will be employed, with depth limited to twelve or fourteen inches to avoid winter issues, starting at the M. E. Lance corner and crossing the new bridge over Strawberry.
Week's note shows families visiting relatives in Orangetide and Midview. Lamond Lloyd returned from Salt Lake with his wife and baby. Several local residents, including Mr and Mrs Murphy and guests, hosted gatherings as a light Tuesday rain brought relief from mud.

Local social items report visits in Myton and Salt Lake City areas, dances at Victory Park Rivala Park, dinners with the Lemon family, and relatives seen from California. Thea Gentry returned to Myton after a week with grandparents.
Local residents report fishing activity at Tock Creek with many fishermen. Swift Creek fire crews return after battling blazes. a rain at the weekend helped. Bluebell defeats Talmage in a home baseball game as visitors describe visits, travel, and mission news among townsfolk.
The Weld Crops and Irrigation Department of the Uintah Basin Industrial Convention will hold August 5 to 7 at Fort Duchesne with no directors. Attendees will hear talks on fall and winter irrigation, alfalfa rotation, insect and disease control, and crop resistance. Tours of the Experimental Farm will show alfalfa weevil control and rotation. Leroy OC Funk, chairman publicity committee.
The column lists numerous local residents visiting relatives and attending dances in Revoli park and Mt. Emmons. Guests include Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hadden, J. W. Wadden, Mike Blank, Charles Ablanalp, Eugene Abblanip, Warren Strong, Farrel Ablanalp, and many others. Several locals return home after visits with kin in Altonah Green River and other nearby towns.
The Swift Creek fire north of Altonah is contained with fire crews remaining in the mountains to watch. Alfred Davis and family visited friends while Mrs. Martin Alfred lost her home and most belongings to the blaze. Several locals traveled to nearby Balt Lake for a visit and the covered wagon celebration.
President Smart spent much of the week in Myton. Louis N. Shanks returned from Vernal and pursues proof on his homestead. Morgan Calvert and FA. M. Jones fished the lakes ending with a large trout breakfast. The Morrill family from Craig Colorado plan to locate on the reservation. Myton police fished at the lakes and several locals reported large trout hauls. Measles and typhoid cases in Vernal and Uintah County declined to one. Scruggs and deputies hunted horse thieves. coroner exonerated Scruggs in Murdock case. Reports continue on last page.
Myton totaled 87 runs across four games last week while holding opponents to 34. The squad, bolstered by a new lineup and two battery pairings, defeated Apaleo 28-16 at Rovels Park and swept Roosevelt 18-12 before beating Duchesne 18-1. Jack Calvert Jr pitched two scoreless innings in relief, and Elmer Shelton shined as a new pitcher.
The city is installing four blocks of iron pipe to improve water service. A three inch cross pipe will run from the main along frontages to prevent future freezing. Three more blocks of four inch pipe replace rotten wood pipe from Grant hotel to Lockhart corner in Duchesne.
The July summary from the Bureau of Agricultural Economics notes higher butter use in Europe, led by Britain where imports and domestic sales rise 19 percent and 10.3 percent respectively. Prices lift slightly in foreign markets, Germany reduces demand, Denmark and Australia show strong output, and US dairy trade remains stable with record export tonnage.
The County Extension Service will mail farmers a booklet titled Feeding Suggestions for 1941 32 next week. It covers daily feed amounts and winter needs for horses cattle sheep swine and poultry, includes alfalfa and grain replacement values, notes on feed saving, and emphasizes conserving feed during drought.
Archdeacon Bulkley will celebrate Holy Communion and preach at St Pauls church this coming Sunday. The service time changes begin next Sunday with Church School at 10 30 and the sermon at 11 80. All are welcome.
