Utah land open for entry on millions of acres in state
A federal report by Elf F. Taylor shows during the year ending June 30 Utah had 75 agricultural entries on about 500 000 acres of unappropriated land. Applications were allowed in 488 cases for 206 194 acres, 345 relinquishments on about 150 000 acres issued, 333 final certificates added 116 000 acres to tax rolls. 26 000 000 acres remain open, with 15 500 000 surveyed and 12 500 000 yet to be surveyed. Major unappropriated land lies in Topota county with 3 500 000 acres, Salt Lake county holding about 3 017 acres. Most land is grazing use, relinquishments tied to arid years.
