Pioneer Joseph Draper Dies After Long Life of Settlement Work
Obituary notes the death of Joseph Draper a TaLmage pioneer who died New Year’s morn after a long career moving with his family across Utah and New Mexico to build canals roads and new homes He was born November 13 1850 in Wilshire England and leaves a large family including thirty nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren buried at Mt Home cemetery. He served as counselor to a bishop at Desert Lake and held various church and civil roles.

Monday afternoon the Barton residence burned completely while Mrs. Barton was away briefly. Neighbors and fire signals arrived too late to save the house and contents. insurance coverage was noted as partial and the cause remains unclear.

Arcadia Youth Dies From Burns After Gasoline Explosion
Albert Marlin Richens aged 16 died at Roosevelt from burns after a gasoline can exploded while he rushed to douse a bunk house fire on his father Henry Richens’s Arcadia ranch. He had loaded a car and returned with the can when clothing caught fire. he saved the can, then escaped as heat triggered flames. Funeral services were held in Arcadia with local and neighboring clergy attendance and burial at Myton cemetery.

Booze Found In Stage Driver’s Car
Sheriff Arzy Miten dell searched in Wentzell's car at the Grant hotel in Duchesne and found eight gallons of whisky packed in salt cases. Wentzell had just come from Price and the suitcases were bound for Vernal. He pleaded guilty before Justice Poulson and was fined 150 dollars with three months in jail suspended.

Gas Explodes Wounding Vernal Man Harry Seaton
Harry Seaton of Vernal formerly of Myton suffered facial burns when a can of gasoline exploded while he was mending a leak. He believed the contents were water until someone had poured gasoline into the can. The flame from his blow torch ignited the contents and caused the blast.

Mrs Fannin Straiter walked from Roanoke Virginia to Jack Bouville Oregon to visit her daughter. She crossed the basin in summer and begins her return trip to Roanoke. Her only luxury is a clay pipe and motorists along the route have given her gifts. She has stayed with motor club hosts in several towns.
