A large party escorted by Union Pacific officials and Green River residents opened the Vernal-Manila highway linking Lincoln Victory and southern Wyoming routes to the Uintah basin. Iason Creamery company opened a new creamery station at Myton inside a department store building. The creamery operates weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. J W R Timms manages Amery company and will oversee the Myton station opening.

Regular meeting of Duchesne County Board of Education
The Duchesne County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday August 2 with all members present. They authorized repairs to the old Myton school building and established a transportation route from Antelope and Myton to Roosevelt for high school pupils and 10th grade pupils. A 10th grade was approved for Duchesne. ninth and tenth grades to remain at Boneta. Heating plant work for the high school gym and auditorium was authorized. Educational dues for district institute were approved. Several transportation routes and fuel bids were awarded or pursued, with audits and financial reports reviewed.

County Tax Levy Rises 1.9 Mills in 1927
County commissioners fixed the 1927 levy August 2 as 1.9 mills higher than 1926. Dotsero Cutoff Abandoned Plans Reported In Denver
Railroad circles in Denver say the Dotsero cutoff is abandoned and focus will shift to a western extension from Craig Colorado through the Uintah basin to Salt Lake City. President Coolidge reportedly refused to cancel power sites, hindering right of way. Surveying will begin at Craig to map a final route. Construction on the extension could start next spring.

Flow of oil well destroys rig and sparks cascade in Rangely field
A massive fracture in the Rangely field released an estimated forty million cubic feet of gas daily as a well burst sending a 200 foot column of water and debris into the air. Fire ignited by lightning struck a gas column estimated at ninety million feet, destroying the rig and causing a long extinguishing effort over twenty three days.

A well near Vernal at a depth of 43 meters struck artesian water that flowed over a ten inch casing. The Mande Ellen oil company reports the water is pure spring water and will reduce trips to haul water for nearby camps, eliminating long-distance hauling.

The Northeastern District Odd Fellows gathered in Myton on Saturday for a district meeting with Wm. afillar of Helper as president and J. P. Miller of Moab treasurer. Delegates from every lodge attended and the evening included a Presbyterian church program for wives and daughters followed by a banquet serving 124 plates at the Myton hotel with toastmaster W. A. Miller guiding out of town guests.
