Philipps a Myton leader and longtime booster of the Uintah Basin died Thursday morning after weeks confined to his home. He moved to Myton during basin settlement, edited the Myton Free Press, and later ran Maxwell Cash Register Co. He served on civic and church roles, leaving a wide circle of friends and a lasting impact on local development. He was survived by his wife Myra, a daughter and several siblings. The funeral arrangements were to be announced.
