The prize steamer Juno, a British iron vessel with 200 bales of cotton three tons of tobacco and turpentine on board, was captured Sept 22 off Wilmington NC by the gunboat Connecticut after a four hour chase. The Juno is a wide wheel ship built at Bristol and 10 years old with 400 horsepower engines. A telegraph from Robesernes dated last night reports a reconnaissance in force along enemy lines finding the foe in strength but not resisting the probing move.
Dispatch reports that over one and a half million dollars have been received as commutation under the enrollment act with funds to be used for enlistments.
