Winans Brothers win rights to run St Petersburg railroad
Me Thomas Winans and his brothers living at Brighton near London have reentered a contract with the Shaperot of Russia to run and maintain the St Petersburg and Moscow Railroad. The eight year term pays about eight millions of roubles per year in current dollars. James Murray of the Vulcan Works, Baltimore, chief superintendent, is now employed by the Messrs Winans and aided by others as they near completion of their steamship model planned to travel twenty two miles per hour and cross the ocean in six days.
