Over 2,000 rebel prisoners arrived from Roos Island destined south after exchange. The Cincinnati press hosted a reception for escaped correspondents Richardson and Brown with speeches and city entertainment.
Jan 22 Burrvare reports a severe boat collision on a trestle bridge over the Brio river near Williamsport, with 100 feared killed or injured. Telegraph offices had no confirmation. Separately Jan 29 Ballaiore notes Minnesota Wabash and Colorado ships returning from Fisher operations with 500 North Carolina troops captured at Fort Fisher en route to Port Delaware. Annapolis reports Adelaide arriving with Fort Monroe news and 969 rebel prisoners from Fort Fisher.
