Our troops hold the strong position now occupied by the enemy. The Key Port brought 100 rebel prisoners from the fight and reported deserters. A hospital boat arrived from Dedham Bolton with 100 wounded from yesterday. Artillery and musketry fire persisted as the 18th Corps ferried away the wounded and our forces repaired two of the enemy's earthworks near Richmond. Generals Grant and Meade command in person. The Key Port also carried one hundred rebel prisoners from yesterday's skirmish. Additional earthworks and a battery were captured during the operation along the canal.
The steamer Asin arrived this evening via Queenstown with rumors of seizure of the Georgia cruiser by government order. It was later said she is owned by Mr Bates and refitted for a charter to the Portuguese Government, carrying troops to West Africa and mails Lisbon to Azores. Reports on peace terms with Denmark Prussia Austria follow, with Atlantic news and Civil War movements near Richmond and James River, Hancock corps transports, and pontoon bridge actions.
