Debate on Grant to Duke of Clarence in Imperial Parliament
In the House of Commons on June 29 the grant to the Duke of Clarence was debated. Speakers argued the crown must not influence Parliament, opposed lavish coronation expenses, and pressed for justice for Queen Caroline. Some argued for the grant for the coronation and arrears, others called for restraint and constitutional propriety.
