Prophetic Impostor, Executions, and Local Obituaries

A Sunday impostor in the Meeting-House urged repentance like Jonas and later styled himself John the Baptist, summoning followers for meetings over successive days. Reports from Clonmell note Henry Shea died of wounds. Antrim records also a death. John Skeffington and John Montgomery die, while Grattan lies ill with spotted fever. The criminal George Forster, wrongly taken to the gallows, obtains transportation. A man found in the river is interred near North Wall. Jonathan Pondar dies, as does Cary of Killaloe, who had purchased a cornetcy. Capt. Plucknett, mayor, sick but recovering. Donations at St Warren’s raise 661 6s 11d for a charity sermon by Dr Delany. Bishop Robt. Clayton ordains priests at Donnoybrook. Mr. Wade dies. Edward Worth’s funeral at St Patrick’s, with choir at the cathedral. Next Sunday Dr Anthony Dopping preaches a charity sermon. About 40 tons of barley arrive from foreign ports. Bread prices listed.
