The Franklin Grove Historical Society greeted fall with an old fashioned farming equipment display. Antique tractors and plows turned two fields while a team of horses driven by Bob Kissee showcased the era. Dee Wildhorse Wright and Autumns Fall displayed hide scraping artifacts and authentic Indian dances for spectators.
A near record cool spell swept northern Illinois Sunday with frost in Rockford and Dixon. Temperatures dipped to 30 and 31 degrees, narrowly missing records, while a cool front keeps temperatures in the 60s to 70s into the week. Agriculture advisers say the frost will mostly affect double cropped soybeans, with limited impact on regular soybean and corn harvests.
