Northern Illinois Cancer Treatment Center opens with open house
After 18 months of planning and fundraising the Northern Illinois Cancer Treatment Center began seeing patients last week. An open house Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will showcase the 5,000 square foot facility located on Ill Route 2 east of Sinnissippi Mental Health Center. The center is a joint venture of KSB Hospital and CGH Medical Center in Sterling with Dr. Sukhdev Soni as radiation oncologist. Eight patients started daily radiation treatment. the unit features a six megavolt linear accelerator and a treatment planning computer to broaden care options and reduce patient travel.
