First Snow Flurries Signal Approaching Winter
Northern Illinois saw its first snow flurries Sunday night signaling winter’s approach. The National Weather Service notes last year’s early flurries began Oct. 20 at Rockford Airport, with measurable snow arriving Nov. 30. Tonight faces a 40 percent chance of light rain or snow showers as winds stay brisk and highs hover in the mid to upper 40s.

Loud dog helps catch drunken auto thief in Illinois
