Pentagon suspends Sundstrand from federal work amid alleged overcharges

The Pentagon temporarily bars Sundstrand Corp from government contracts over charges of price gouging tax cheating and padding expenses. UAW leader Duane Schneider condemns the move but says workers suffer. Sundstrand faces overbilling penalties totaling 125 million dollars and a guilty plea in Illinois. Defense officials note Sundstrand’s annual government business around 700 million with parts for F-14 F-15 F-18 B-1 and space shuttle programs. Rep. Lynn Martin questions suspension impact on workers while deeming fines and indictments insufficient yet urging cautious action.
