Green Berets Freed From Salvadoran Hotel Siege
Twelve U S Green Berets evacuated from a luxury San Salvador hotel where rebels had trapped them amid a surge in fighting. Soldiers appeared nervous in a video as helicopters and troops moved around the hotel, with Salvadoran forces surrounding the building and reports that 12 Americans were safely out. Plane Crash Near Monroe Center Kills Three in Oregon Illinois
A single engine four passenger plane crashed in a plowed field three miles northwest of Monroe Center on Illinois Route 72. Three people from Farmer City, James Foster Sr., 53, Diana Foster, 43, and Timothy Duggins, 24, died. The plane was en route to Bloomington after taking off from Rockford Airport.
