Pile up closes 1 39 on I 39 south of Rochelle
A car fire in the northbound lane and a six car pile up in opposite lanes of Interstate 39 south of Rochelle led to a temporary closure Friday evening. Five people were taken to Rochelle Community Hospital and traffic was rerouted through Rochelle while state police investigated.

Grass fire in Dixon beyond Commonwealth Edison plant
Firefighters from the Dixon City Fire Department responded to a grass fire on College Avenue and River Street Friday at about 6 30 p m. Barricades on Galena Avenue to be removed this weekend
Assistant District Engineer Rex Heacock says barricades on Galena Avenue will disappear this weekend. A turning lane for southbound traffic onto Second Street will be added later this year, with a northbound right turn at Second Street delayed until next year. Demolition of three buildings at Second Street and Galena Avenue has no definite date. Traffic lanes will switch Monday from east to west side of Galena Avenue, affecting Illinois Route 26 toward Division Street and the Chicago and Northwestern railroad bridge project to the I 88 tollway.
