Candidates vie for 13 Ogle board seats

Ogle County residents face 13 open seats with 17 nominees across four districts as Democrats seek to unseat Republican incumbents. Two Arrested in Paw Paw Murder Case

Calvin Pierce and Kathy Bennett, both of Earlville, face arraignment in Lee County Circuit Court this afternoon on charges of murdering 80 year old Carrie Duncan of Paw Paw. Duncan was beaten and stabbed and her body found near Angling Road two miles southwest of Paw Paw. Authorities credit the Northern Illinois Sheriffs Association Major Crimes Task Force for quick progress.

Three Men Die In Two Ogle County Accidents

Three men were killed in two area accidents in Ogle County over two days. Wayne Miller, 42, of Forreston, died when his car left Columbine Road and rolled near Forreston. In a separate crash, Kenneth Wills Sr., 65, of Rochelle, and Robert Stouffer, 61, of Rockford, died when their tractor-trailer collided with a Burlington Northern train at a crossing west of Chana. The truck was hauling fertilizer from Maplehurst Farms. Sheriff Brooks and Coroner Personette handled the investigations and bodies.
