Hughes Aircraft suit alleges $40 million overcharge on radar projects

A Hughes Aircraft contracts manager in El Segundo files a civil suit in Los Angeles alleging the defense contractor shifted development costs among radar programs to inflate government spending. The case, under the False Claims Act, links to the B-2, F-18, and F-15 projects and names top Radar Systems Group officers. Hughes disputes the charges, stating internal reviews found proper charging. The Justice Department is reported to be reviewing the matter.
