Rochelle GREDCO marks two decades boosting Rochelle economy

The Greater Rochelle Economic Development Corporation enters its second decade with a track record of growth since a tentative start. From a $13,000 shoestring budget in 1988, GREDCO channeled about $8.2 million in public funding and leveraged private support to create jobs and attract investment, funding a $500,000 revolving loan fund and spawning hundreds of new positions. The group faced early hushes but drew support from founders like Bob Barron and Leonard Carmichael, with projections showing substantial economic impact from new jobs and associated spending.
