Illinois approves gas tax hike to fund five year road plan

IDOT agrees to four lane Rt 2 and governor pledge
Illinois Route 2 between Sterling and Dixon will be expanded to four lanes with IDOT starting the process. Governor Thompson will inspect the route from Dixon to Sterling, and bids for Sauk Valley College to Whiteside County line are planned this year. The project costs are estimated at 44 million dollars, with construction possible in the 1995 start of IDOT’s next five year plan.
